India registered another record single-day spike of 17,296 in new COVID cases over the last 24 hours. With this, the total confirmed cases in the country crossed 4.9 lakh mark to reach 4,90,401 as on Friday morning. Of this, 1,89,463 are active cases at present, according to a data released by the Union Health Ministry. The country has recorded 407 new deaths yesterday, taking the nationwide toll to 15,301. As many as 2,85,637 patients have recovered so far.
With 1,47,741 total confirmed cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst-hit state, followed by Delhi with 73,780 cases, and Tamil Nadu with 70,977 cases.
Globally, There were around 1.35 lakh new cases reported worldwide in the last 24 hours. This has taken the global tally to 9.6 million so far. With 25,04,588 cases, the U.S continues to be the worst affected country followed by Brazil (1,233,147) and Russia (613,994).
