New COVID-19 cases at 39,071 on Thursday

India reported 39,071 new COVID-19 incidences on Thursday. With as many as 544 fatalities recorded on the day, the overall number of deaths from the pandemic has escalated to 4,12,563. The country has recorded 3,10,25,878 cases so far, of which, the active infection load comprises 4,24,692 cases, according to the data from the union health ministry.

With 13,773 new incidences, Kerala reported the highest number of daily Covid cases on Thursday. The total number of infections has reached 31,17,083 in the state, active infections comprised 1,19,020 cases. As many as 87 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 15,025.

As many as 8,010 cases and 170 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Thursday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,26,560 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 61,89,257, of which 1,07,205 are active cases.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Thursday included Andhra Pradesh (2,526), Tamil Nadu (2,405), Odisha (2,110), Assam (1,992) and Karnataka (1,977).
