India reported 23,950 fresh cases in the past 24 hours taking the total case count to 1,00,99,308. The total recoveries have gone up to 96,63,382 with 26,895 new recoveries recorded on Wednesday. There are 2,87,432 active COVID-19 cases in the country. With 333 recent deaths reported the total fatalities have risen to 1,46,476.
A total of 6,049 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Kerala on Tuesday taking the total number of confirmed cases to 7,15,342. The active cases stood at 61,487 in the state.
As many as 27 patients succumbed to the infection on Tuesday taking the death toll to 2,871. As many as 5,057 recoveries were recorded pushing the total recoveries in the state to 6,50,836.
Maharashtra reported 3,106 new COVID-19 cases, 4,122 recoveries, and 75 deaths on Tuesday, as per the state Health Department. The total number of cases in the state stands at 19,02,458 including 17,94,080 recoveries, 58,376 active cases and 48,876 deaths.
West Bengal saw new cases at 1,653 after testing around 40,200 samples. The total caseload in the state stood at 5,39,996 with active infections at 16,248. As many 2,270 patients were recovered yesterday taking total recoveries to 5,14,309. With 38 new deaths the total fatalities have reached 9,439.
Karnataka reported 1,141 new COVID-19 cases, 1,136 discharges and 14 deaths today. The total number of cases in the state stand at 9,11,382 including 8,85,341 recoveries, 13,993 active cases and 12,029 deaths.
Tamil Nadu reported 1,052 new COVID-19 cases, 1,139 discharges and 17 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total COVID-19 cases in the state stand at 8,09,014 including 7,87,611 discharges, 9,391 active cases and 12,012 deaths.
Delhi reported 939 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 6,18,747. This is the second consecutive day on which the number of new cases is less than 1,000. On Monday, there were 803 new cases, which was the lowest in over four months. 25 new deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 10,329. Of the total cases, 5,99,683 people have recovered and there are 8,735 active cases.
The positivity of COVID-19 cases on Tuesday was 1.14%, compared to the average daily positivity in November, which was 11.65%. The overall positivity till now is 7.79%, as per the state bulletin. There were 5,833 containment zones in the city as on Tuesday.
The Delhi government has also formed a committee to give recommendations on reducing the number of hospital beds reserved for COVID-19, according to an official order issued on Monday. Out of the total 18,786 beds available for COVID-19 treatment in the city, 84.6% were vacant as on Tuesday. The committee has been asked to submit its recommendations on Thursday.
