India saw 36,456 fresh COVID-19 infections on Tuesday. The cumulative case tally now stands at 94,99,710 with 4,27,524 active infections. As many as 43,203 recoveries were reported during the day taking the overall recoveries to 89,31,798. With 500 new deaths the fatalities rose to 1,38,159.
With 5,375 new positive cases, Kerala reported the highest number of daily cases on Tuesday. The new cases took the states cumulative caseload to 6,08,358 of which 61,098 are currently active infections under treatment. The state saw 6,151 new recoveries during the day taking the overall recoveries to 5,44,864. While 26 more deaths pushed the toll to 2,271.
The national capital saw 4,006 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 5,74,380, according to a health bulletin released by the Delhi government.The death toll has reached 9,260 with 86 more fatalities reported in a single day. The virus claimed 2,612 lives in Delhi in November alone, which is more than the total combined fatalities recorded in October and September, according to Delhi government data. Of the total cases, 5,33,351 people have recovered and there are currently 31,769 active cases. The Capital has 5,669 containment zones.
The ‘Plastic Lao, Mask Pao’ campaign in partnership with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was launched by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Tuesday.
Inaugrated by the Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev, the campaign allowed people to receive cloth masks in exchange of plastic waste which should be given at a collection centre currently arranged at the Charkha Museum in Connaught Place. The centre will be open on all days from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Maharashtra reported 6,290 recoveries as opposed to 4,930 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. With this, the number of active cases, which had crossed the 90,000 mark, has now dipped to 89,098. The total case tally now stands at 18,28,826. The cumulative recoveries have reached 16,91,412, with the state’s recovery rate rising to 92.49%. As many as 95 deaths were reported, taking the total death toll to 47,246.
“Of a total of 1,09,15,683 laboratory samples tested thus far, 18,28,826 (case positivity rate of 16.75%) have returned positive, with nearly 60,000 samples being tested in the last 24 hours,” said State Surveillance Officer Dr. Pradeep Awate, adding that the state’s case fatality rate stands at 2.58%.
West Bengal saw 3,315 fresh cases taking the total caseload to 4,86,799. The active infections stood at 24,221. As many as 4,54,102 patients have recovered from the infection and 8,476 succumbed to the infection till now.
With 2,347 new cases Rajasthan’s case tally rose to 2,70,410. The active infections stood at 27,974 with 2,40,105 recoveries and 2,331 fatalities seen so far.
The active cases in Himachal Pradesh rose to 8,218 after seeing 709 new infections yesterday. The state saw 761 recoveries and 21 deaths during the day. The case tally rose to 41,227 and total fatalities have reached 656.
