India’s new SARS-CoV-2 infections fall to 60,008 on Monday    

India continued to witness a dip in the number of fresh COVID-19 incidences on Monday which stood at 60,008. As many as 2,733 deaths were also recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities from the pandemic to 3,77,062. The country has recorded 2,95,70,085 COVID cases so far. The active infection load presently comprised 9,08,452 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.

Tamil Nadu recorded 12,772 new incidences on Monday. As many as 254 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 29,801. The total case tally has reached 23,66,493, of which 1,36,884 are active infections.

As many as 8,129 fresh cases and 1,592 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Monday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,12,696 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 59,17,121, of which 1,47,354 are active cases.

Kerala reported 7,719 new incidences on Monday. The total number of infections has reached 27,35,959, active infections comprised 1,13,821 cases. As many as 161 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 11,343.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Monday included Karnataka (6,835), Andhra Pradesh (4,549), Odisha (4,339), Assam (3,678), West Bengal (3,519) and Telangana (1,511).
