India’s daily COVID-19 infections fall to 92K on Tuesday
India reported 92,791 new COVID-19 incidences on Tuesday. With as many as 2,222 fatalities recorded on the day, the overall number of deaths reported in the country due to the pandemic has reached 3,53,557. The country has recorded 2,90,88,248 cases so far, of which the active infection load comprised 12,26,780 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.

Tamil Nadu recorded 18,023 new incidences on Tuesday. As many as 409 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 27,765. The total case tally has reached 22,74,704, of which 2,18,595 are active infections.

Kerala recorded 15,567 new incidences on Tuesday. The total number of infections has reached 26,57,962, active infections comprised 1,43,249 cases. As many as 124 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 10,281.

As many as 10,891 cases and 702 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Tuesday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,01,172 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 58,52,891, of which 1,67,927 are active cases.

Karnataka saw 9,808 new COVID-19 incidences and 179 deaths on Tuesday. The state has recorded 27,17,289 cases so far. The active caseload now comprised 2,25,004 cases. The death toll stood at 32,099.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Tuesday included Andhra Pradesh (7,796), Odisha (5,896), West Bengal (5,427), Assam (3,948), Telangana (1,897), Punjab (1,252), Jammu and Kashmir (1,184), Chhattisgarh (1,102).
