India reported 42,128 new COVID-19 incidences on Tuesday. With as many as 3,998 fatalities recorded on the day, the overall number of deaths reported in the country due to the pandemic escalated to 4,18,511. The country has recorded 3,12,15,156 cases so far, of which the active infection load comprised 4,01,231 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.
With 16,848 new incidences Kerala recorded the highest number of daily Covid cases on Tuesday. The total number of infections has reached 31,87,716, active infections comprised 1,26,396 cases. As many as 104 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 15,512.
Maharashtra recorded 9,389 new cases on Tuesday. The state also recorded a spike in the number of deaths due to Covid on the day reaching 3,656. The total number of fatalities from COVID-19 has surged to 1,30,753 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 62,29,596, of which 94,593 are active cases.
Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Tuesday included Andhra Pradesh (2,498), Odisha (2,085), Tamil Nadu (1,904), Assam (1,798) and Karnataka (1,464).
