India registered a new record of 15,413 COVID cases on Saturday, taking the total confirmed cases in the country to 4,11,395. Of this, 1,69,451 are presently active cases, according to the Union Health Ministry. The country lost 306 lives to the infection in the last 24 hours, which took the total death toll to 13,254. The total recoveries were 2,27,756 so far.
Maharashtra reported 3,874 new cases over the past 24 hours taking the total tally further to 1,28,205 on Sunday. With 160 recent deaths, the toll now stands at 5,984, according to the State health department.
Delhi too saw a record surge of 3,630 new COVID-19 cases yesterday take the tally to over 56,746 which is close to that of Tamil Nadu which now has 56,845 total confirmed cases and has been the second most affected state. The death toll in Delhi is now at 2,112.
Tamil Nadu recorded 2,396 cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, as the state’s four districts including Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpet entered a strict lockdown on June 19 which lasts till June 30.
