India witnessed a dip in the daily number of fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday. With the new incidences at 28,555, the case tally of the nation rose to 88,74,172. The overall active cases totalled to 4,53,449 as of now. The number of people who have recuperated from the disease reached 82,88,169 and the death toll mounted to 1,30,559 with 450 new fatalities.
Delhi reported 3,797 new COVID-19 infections, 3,560 recoveries and 99 deaths on Monday. The case tally rose to 4,89,202, of which 40,128 are active infections. The total recoveries have reached 4,41,361 and the deaths stood at 7,713.
The government will not impose any lockdown in the city because of the COVID-19 situation, stated Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday. He also added that the peak of the third wave of the infection had passed and positivity of cases would slowly come down.
West Bengal added 3,012 new infections taking the total caseload to 4,34,563. The active infections stood at 27,897 in the state. As many as 4,376 patients were recovered yesterday while 53 patients succumbed to ailments from the infection. The total recoveries went up to 3,98,952 till now and the fatalities totalled 7,714.
Kerala, on Monday, reported 2,710 fresh cases after testing 25,141 samples. The test positivity rate stood at 10.78%. The number of testing went down from 4,03,374 tests in November first week to 3,74,534 tests in the second week.The total caseload of the state stood at 5,27,709 of which 70,929 are active infections. With 6,567 patients testing negative during the day the total recoveries have reached 4,54,774. 19 more deaths reported yesterday took the state’s death toll to 1,888.
Of the new cases reported on Monday, 2,655 cases were locally acquired infections with the source remaining untraced in 269 cases. The number of healthcare workers who contracted the infection was 39.
Maharashtra reported a low number of cases at 2,535 on Monday. The overall case tally stood at 17,49,777 with 84,386 active infections. As many as 3,001 patients were found negative during the day taking the total recoveries to 16,18,380. 60 new deaths took the overall deaths due to the pandemic in the state to 46,034.
