India is just a few numbers away from overtaking China — the epicenter where coronavirus-2 outbreak emerged, in terms of total number of patients tested positive. The country’s tally of confirmed cases now stands at 81,997 with deaths of 2,649 people. While there are all chances of extending the nationwide lockdown further, no decision has taken on this yet.
Prime minister Narendra Modi had asked all chief ministers to submit their lockdown 4.0 plan by Friday. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat remained the worst hit states and these states continued reporting rising number of cases even on Thursday.
Globally, 4,521,174 people have been infected by coronavirus till now, and the total number of deaths from the infection has already touched 303,070.
