India reported 11,427 new coronavirus cases on Sunday pushing the nation’s tally to 1,07,57,610. While the number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 1,04,34,983, according to the union health ministry data. The COVID-19 active cases remained below 2 lakh at 1,68,235. The national recovery rate surged to 97%. The death toll increased to 1,54,392 with 118 daily new fatalities. The COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.44%. The health ministry stressed that more than 70% of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
According to the ICMR, 19,70,92,635 samples have been tested up to January 31 with 5,04,263 samples being tested on January 31.
Kerala recorded 5,266 new infections on Sunday. The total caseload has risen to 9,29,179, of which 70,989 are active cases. As many as 5,730 patients were discharged yesterday. The total recoveries have reached 8,54,206. With 21 recent deaths, the total fatalities have reached 3,744.
Maharashtra reported 2,585 new cases on Sunday. As many as 1,670 patients were discharged on the day. With this, the active case tally went up to 45,071, while the total case tally has reached 20,26,399. Forty more fatalities saw the state’s total death toll climb to 51,082. The cumulative recoveries stand at 19,29,005, while the state’s recovery rate has marginally dipped to 95.19%. The case fatality rate stands at 2.52%.
“Of 1,46,17,168 laboratory samples tested thus far, 20,26,399 have returned positive. Over 58,000 samples were tested in the state in the last 24 hours,” said State Surveillance Officer Dr Pradeep Awate. A total of 1,90,232 people across the state were in home quarantine and 2,294 were in institutional quarantine facilities.
Over 37,44,334 doses of vaccine were administered in the country so far.
