With 11,610 fresh cases, India’s COVID-19 tally has climbed to 1,09,37,320 on Tuesday, according to the union health ministry. The number of recoveries has surged to 1,06,44,858 taking the recovery rate to 97.33%. The active cases stood at 1,36,549.
The death count due to the infection has gone up to 1,55,913 in the country with 100 new fatalities reported in a 24-hour period. The case fatality rate stands at 1.43 per cent.
Kerala recorded new cases at 4,937. The overall confirmed cases have risen to 10,11,957. The active infections have declined to 60,760. The total recoveries have reached 9,46,910 and the death toll has mounted to 4,017.
On Tuesday, Maharashtra recorded 3,663 new COVID-19 cases with 461 fresh cases in Mumbai. At least 39 deaths due to COVID-19 have taken the toll to 51,591 deaths. In Mumbai 11,425 deaths have been recorded so far. The total caseload stands at 20,71,306. The number of active infections now stand at 37,125. The total recoveries have risen to 19,81,408.
More than 88.5 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered till 16 February 2021, according to the union health ministry data. More than 1.3 lakh vaccine doses were given on Tuesday alone. As many as 56,048 health care workers received second dose of vaccine on the day.
