India reported 1,86,075 new COVID-19 incidences on Thursday. The country has reported 2,75,54,245 such cases so far, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load presently comprised 23,27,158 cases. As many as 3,659 fatalities were recorded during the day pushing the overall death toll due to the pandemic to 3,18,924.
The highest number of cases, on Thursday, was reported from Tamil Nadu at 33,361. The total case tally has reached 19,78,621while the active infections went up to 3,13,048. As many as 474 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 22,289.
Karnataka confirmed 24,214 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 25,23,998. The active cases of the state stood at 4,02,203. As many as 476 new deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities to 27,405.
Kerala recorded 24,166 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. The overall caseload reported till now has reached 24,48,555. The active caseload of the state comprised 2,41,972 cases. As many as 181 new deaths pushed the toll to 8,064.
Maharashtra reported 21,273 fresh cases on Thursday. The total case tally of the state rose to 56,72,180 while the active infection load comprised 3,01,041 cases. The overall fatalities have surged to 92,225 with 884 recent deaths.
Other states which also reported a spike in fresh cases on Thursday included Andhra Pradesh (16,167), West Bengal (13,046), Odisha (6,736), Assam (5,704), Punjab (3,854), Telangana (3,614), Rajasthan (3,454), Uttar Pradesh (3,178), Gujarat (2,869), Chhattisgarh (2,824), Jammu and Kashmir (2,769), Bihar (2,568), Haryana (2,322), Uttarakhand (2,146), Madhya Pradesh (1,977), Goa (1,504), Himachal Pradesh (1,472) and Puducherry (1,137) and Delhi (1,072).
