India registers 70,984 new SARS-CoV-2 infections on Sunday

India witnessed a dip in the number of fresh COVID-19 incidences on Sunday reaching 70,984. As many as 3,922 deaths were also recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities from the pandemic to 3,74,329. The county has recorded 2,95,10,060 COVID cases so far. The active infection load presently comprised 9,68,691 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.

Tamil Nadu recorded 14,016 new incidences on Sunday. As many as 267 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 29,547. The total case tally has reached 23,53,721, of which 1,49,927 are active infections.

Kerala recorded 11,584 new incidences on Sunday. The total number of infections has reached 27,28,240, active infections comprised 1,23,006 cases. As many as 206 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 11,182.

As many as 10,442 fresh cases and 2,771 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Sunday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,55,588 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 59,08,992, of which 1,11,104 are active cases.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Sunday included Karnataka (7,810), Andhra Pradesh (6,770), Odisha (4,469), West Bengal (3,984), Assam (2,167) and Telangana (1,280).
