India reported 48,117 fresh COVID-19 positive incidences on Friday pushing farther the cumulative caseload to 81,36,166. According to the Health Ministry, the active COVID-19 infections in the country currently adds up to 5,82,160. The number of patients recovered from the disease has risen to 74,30,911 with 59,005 patients getting cured/discharged yesterday. The number of fatalities due to pandemic mounted to 1,21,681 in all with 550 deaths reported in the past 24 hrs.
Maharashtra’s COVID-19 tally on Friday jumped to 16,72,858 with 6,190 new cases. With 8,241 more COVID-19 patients being discharged the cumulative recoveries have crossed the 15 lakh mark to touch 15,03,050..With 127 more deaths, the total toll has reached 43,837.
The total number of active cases has dipped further to 1,25,418 and the recovery rate has risen to 89.85%. The state’s case fatality rate currently stands at 2.62%. “Of 89,06,826 laboratory samples tested so far, 16,72,858 (18.78%) have returned positive, with 69,000 samples being tested across the State in the last 24 hours,” said State Surveillance Officer Dr. Pradeep Awate.
Mumbai reported 1,145 new cases to take its case load to 2,56,505, of which 19,027 are active. With 32 fatalities, the city’s toll has risen to 10,261.
Andhra Pradesh reported 2,886 new infections and 17 new deaths on Friday. The positivity rate for 84,401 samples was 3.42% and overall positivity rate of 79.46 lakh tests 10.33%.The overall case tally has reached 8,20,565 of which active cases under treatment added upto 25,514. The number of recoveries also increased to 7,88,375, with 3,623 new recoveries seen in the last 24 hours. With death toll of the state stood at 6,676.
The total COVID-19 caseload of Karnataka rose to 8,20,398 with the state reporting 3,589 new cases on Friday. The active infections dipped to 59,499 as the number of recovered patients increased to 7,49,740 and the total deaths reached 11,140. As many as 49 deaths were reported during the day. The state carried out 1,03,281 tests during the day of which 79,369 of them were RT-PCR tests and the positivity rate stood at 3.47%.
Kerala reported 6,638 new COVID-19 cases on Friday, testing 53,981 samples. The test positivity rate stood at 12.29%. The overall case tally stood at 4,25,123 with active infections adding up to 90,568. Of active cases, 806 patients were critically ill, in ICUs, with 230 requiring ventilator support. The total recoveries have reached 3,32,994 with 7,828 patients reportedly recovering from the infection. The state added 28 deaths pushing the COVID-19 toll to 1,458.
Thrissur district saw the highest number of incidences yesterday at 1,096 cases which were followed by Malappuram 761 and Kozhikode 722.
