India reported 47,628 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday pushing the cumulative caseload to 84,11,034. The total active infections add up to 5,19,507. The number of patients recovered from the disease has risen to 77,64,763 with 54,133 patients getting cured/discharged yesterday. The number of fatalities due to pandemic mounted to 1,25,029 in all with 672 recent death reported in the past 24 hours.
Kerala reported 6,820 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, after testing 61,388 samples. With this, the total caseload totalled 4,66,467 of which the active infections stood at 84,095. The test positivity rate dipped to 11.1%. The active infections in the state had been going down and there was a 10% reduction in growth rate compared to that of the previous week, Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan told the media. The state has seen 3,80,650 recoveries and 1,614 from the infection so far.
Delhi, on Thursday, reported 6,715 fresh COVID-19 incidences taking the case tally to 4,16,653. The active infections stood at 38,729. With 5,289 patients getting cured/discharged yesterday the overall recoveries rose to 3,71,155. The death toll mounted to 6,769 with 66 new deaths from the virus infection.
A total of 5,246 new cases were reported from Maharashtra on Thursday taking the total case tally to 17,03,444. The number of active cases has now come down to 1,06,519. With 117 deaths, the state’s death toll has reached 44,804. As many as 11,277 patients have been discharged during the day taking the total recoveries to 15,51,282, pushing the recovery rate to 91.07%.
“Of a total of 92,50,254 laboratory samples tested thus far, 17,03,444 (18.42%) have returned positive, with 65,000 samples being tested across the state in the last 24 hours,” said State Surveillance Officer Dr Pradeep Awate. He added that the state’s case fatality rate currently stands at 2.63%.
West Bengal added 3,948 new cases yesterday. The states’ total caseload stood at 3,93,524 and the active infections at 35,953. As many as 3,50,449 patients have been recovered from the infection so far while 7,122 lost their lives.
Karnataka on Thursday reported 3,156 new cases and 31 new deaths. The overall case tally has reached 8,38,929 and the active cases stood at 33,095. The total recoveries seen till now has risen to 7,94,503 and the death toll climbed to 11,312 with 31 new deaths. While the positivity rate for the day was 2.71%, Case Fatality Rate (CFR) touched 0.98%.
Andhra Pradesh added 2,745 new infections on Thursday. The cumulative tally took to 8,35,953 with 21,878 active infections. The state has seen 8,07,318 recoveries and 6,757 deaths from COVID-19 to date. The positivity rate of 84.20 lakh samples dropped to 9.93%, while positivity of the day’s 85,364 samples was 3.22%.
