India reported 12,916 new COVID-19 incidences on Wednesday. The total case tally has now reached 1,07,91,123. The active infections stood at 1,52,360. As many as 17,808 patients got discharged in the past day taking the total recoveries to 1,04,79,508. With 107 recent deaths, the total fatalities climbed to 1,54,742, till now.
Maharashtra reported 2,992 new COVID-19 incidences on Wednesday. The state also recorded 7,030 recoveries and 30 deaths taking the overall recoveries and fatalities to 19,43,335 and 51,169 respectively. The new cases took the state’s total confirmed cases to 20,33,266 making it the worst affected state. However, the active infections in the state are now declining and have reached 37,516, according to the state health department.
With the total confirmed cases escalating to 9,44,710, Kerala overtook Karnataka (9,40,596 cases) to become the second most affected state. Kerala saw 6,356 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday after conducting over 59.6K tests, according to report from the state officials.
The state now has the highest number of active infections standing at 69,125. With 6,380 new discharges registered on Wednesday, the recoveries have risen to 8,71,548. As many as 20 new deaths pushed the death toll to 3,797.India has administered around 41,38,918 vaccine doses to health care workers across the nation till February 3, 2021, according to official reports.
