India’s daily COVID-19 cases dipped below 27K to reach 26,207 on Monday. This was the lowest number of new cases recorded in a single day since July 8, when the count was 25,641. The total number of fatalities stood at 1,40,996 with 389 new deaths. The overall confirmed cases in the country now stand at 97,03,914, of which 3,82,235 are active infections. The total recoveries have escalated to 91,78,269 in the nation after adding 39,245 more recoveries yesterday.
Meanwhile, only 8,01,081 tests for COVID-19 were conducted across India on Sunday, which is the lowest in 10 weeks since September 27, according to the covid19india.org website.
Kerala recorded the highest number of new cases in the last week, with an addition of 36,792 cases to the state’s tally. The state reported 3,272 new cases in the last 24 hours after testing 33,800 samples. The overall case tally of the state stood at 6,39,665, of which 59,482 were active infections under treatment. The state saw 4,705 new recoveries yesterday. With 23 new deaths, the total fatalities have reached 2,442.
Maharashtra saw 3,075 positive COVID-19 incidences pushing its case tally to 18,55,341. The active infections stood at 75,767. The state had tested over 45,000 samples yesterday. As many as 7,345 saw recovery during the day. With 40 new deaths, the overall fatalities rose to 47,774.
West Bengal reported 2,214 new incidences testing 31.5K samples in the last 24 hours. The caseload of the state has escalated to 5,05,054, of which the active infections stood at 23,829. With 48 new fatalities, the total deaths due to the pandemic have reached 8,771 in the state.
The national capital recorded 1,674 fresh infections after testing over 53.2K samples. The overall caseload stood at 5,93,924 of which 22,486 were active infections. With 63 new deaths, the total fatalities took to 9,706 in the city.
The active cases in Punjab declined to 7,604 after seeing 886 new recoveries and 19 deaths. The state saw 613 new infections on Monday after testing 12,400 samples. The overall cases have risen to 1,56,839. The deaths toll has reached 4,934.
Himachal Pradesh added 739 new COVID cases, 1,106 recoveries and 7 deaths on Monday. The total caseload stood at 45,697 of which the active cases totalled 7,895. As many as 6.2K tests were conducted yesterday. The death toll has reached 729.
