India: New SARS-CoV-2 infections at 51,659 on Thursday

India reported 51,659 fresh COVID-19 incidences on Thursday. The country has recorded 3,01,33,851 SARS CoV2 infections so far. The active infection load presently comprised 6,07,638 cases, according to data from the union health ministry. As many as 1,328 deaths were also recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities from the pandemic to 3,93,342.

Kerala reported 12,078 new incidences on Thursday. The total number of infections has reached 28,54,326, active infections comprised 99,862 cases. As many as 136 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 12,582.

As many as 9,844 fresh cases and 556 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Thursday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,19,859 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 60,07,431, of which 1,21,767 are active cases.

Tamil Nadu recorded 6,162 new incidences on Thursday. As many as 155 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 31,901. The total case tally has reached 24,49,577, of which 49,845 are active infections.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Thursday included Andhra Pradesh (4,981), Karnataka (3,979), Odisha (3,650), Assam (2,781), West Bengal (1,923) and Telangana (1,088).
