India logs 62,397 new SARS-CoV-2 infections on Wednesday

India reported 62,397 fresh COVID-19 incidences on Thursday. As many as 1,591 deaths were also recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities from the pandemic to 3,83,522. The country has recorded 2,97,61,986 COVID-19 cases so far. The active infection load presently comprised 7,93,652 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.

Kerala reported 12,469 new incidences on Thursday. The total number of infections has reached 27,73,944, active infections comprised 1,08,557 cases. As many as 88 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 11,744.

As many as 9,830 fresh cases and 636 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Thursday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,16,026 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 59,44,710, of which 1,39,960 are active cases.

Tamil Nadu recorded 9,118 new incidences on Thursday. As many as 210 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 30,548. The total case tally has reached 23,97,864, of which 1,00,523 are active infections.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Thursday included Andhra Pradesh (6,151), Karnataka (5,983), Odisha (3,631), Assam (3,477), West Bengal (3,018) and Telangana (1,492).
