India logs 42,683 new SARS-CoV-2 infections on Monday

India reported 42,683 fresh COVID-19 incidences on Monday. As many as 1,167 deaths were also recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities from the pandemic to 3,89,332. The country has recorded 2,99,77,066 COVID-19 cases so far. The active infection load presently comprised 6,57,162 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.

Kerala reported 7,449 new incidences on Monday. The total number of infections has reached 28,16,844, active infections comprised 99,691 cases. As many as 94 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 12,155.

Tamil Nadu recorded 7,427 new incidences on Monday. As many as 189 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 31,386. The total case tally has reached 24,29,924, of which 61,329 are active infections.

As many as 6,270 fresh cases and 352 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Monday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,18,313 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 59,79,051, of which 1,24,398 are active cases.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Monday included Karnataka (4,867), Andhra Pradesh (2,620), Odisha (3,031), Assam (2,805), West Bengal (1,879) and Telangana (1,197).
