India confirms 2.11 lakh SARS-CoV-2 infections on Wednesday

India reported 2,11,275 new COVID-19 incidences on Wednesday. The country has 2,73,67,935 such cases so far, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load presently comprised 2,46,26,014 cases. As many as 3,841 fatalities were recorded during the day pushing the overall death toll due to the pandemic to 3,15,263.

The highest number of cases, on Wednesday, was reported from Tamil Nadu at 33,764. The total case tally has reached 19,45,260 while the active infections went up to 3,10,224. As many as 475 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 21,815.

Kerala recorded 28,798 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday. The overall caseload reported till now has reached 24,24,389. The active caseload of the state comprised 2,48,526 cases. As many as 151 new deaths pushed the toll to 7,883.

Karnataka confirmed 26,811 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 24,99,784. The active cases of the state stood at 4,09,924. As many as 530 new deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities to 26,929.

Maharashtra reported 992 new COVID-19 related deaths and 24,752 fresh cases on Wednesday. The total case tally of the state rose to 56,50,907 while the active infection load comprised 3,15,042 cases. The overall fatalities have surged to 91,341.

Other states which also reported a spike in fresh cases on Wednesday included Andhra Pradesh (18,285), West Bengal (16,225), Odisha (11,623), Assam (5,699), Punjab (4,004), Rajasthan (3,886), Telangana (3,762), Uttar Pradesh (3,176), Haryana (3,138), Gujarat (3,085), Jammu and Kashmir (3,037), Uttarakhand (2,991), Chhattisgarh (2,829), Madhya Pradesh (2,182), Delhi (1,491), Goa (1,487), Himachal Pradesh (1,365) and Puducherry (1,321).
