India: Confirmed COVID-19 cases fall to 22,065 on Monday

India reported 22,065 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest one-day figure in since July 7, pushing the total COVID-19 caseload to reach 99,06,657.354 deaths in the last 24 hours have pushed the total death count to 1,43,709. Over 94.22 lakh people in the country have recovered since the beginning of the pandemic. The active cases under treatment stand at 3,38,403.

Maharashtra added 2,949 new cases on Monday, with the total number of infected people at 18,83,365. The state also reported 60 deaths, which took the fatality count to 48,269. The active infections stand at 72,383 in the state as of now.

Kerala reported 2,707 new infections pushing its case tally to 6,72,038. The active infections stood at 57,642 as of now seeing 6,11,600 recoveries and 2,648 deaths so far. The state registered 4,481 new recoveries and 24 deaths on Monday. Only around 31,900 tests were conducted during the day.

Delhi registered 1,376 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, after conducting only 36,176 tests. The total number of confirmed cases have risen to 6,08,830. Of the total cases, 5,83,509 people have recovered and there are 15,247 active cases. Also, 60 more deaths have been reported in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of fatalities to 10,074.

The number of containment zones stood at 6,433 as on Monday.The positivity of COVID-19 cases was 2.15% on the day, which is lesser than the average daily positivity in November, which was 11.65%. The overall positivity till now was 8.36%, as per the official data.

Out of the total 18,807 beds available for COVID-19 treatment, 14,561 were vacant, as per the bulletin. About 4,246 people were admitted in hospitals and 9,274 patients were under home isolation.The death rate in the past 10 days was 2.54%.

The Delhi High Court on Monday said it expects the government to increase the number of COVID-19 tests in districts where the infection numbers are high. The HC has asked the Delhi government to file a fresh status report within a week indicating updated figures of tests carried out, district-wise infection numbers, and number of containment zones.

Punjab reported 464 new COVID-19 cases, 21 deaths and 633 discharges on Monday.Total cases stood at 1,60,659 and the recoveries have risen to 1,48,680 while 5,098 persons succumbed to the infection. The active cases stand at 6,881.

Himachal Pradesh’s COVID -19 case tally rose to 49,761 with 386 fresh cases reported yesterday.Total active cases stands at 6,948 and recovered cases have reached 41,954. The death toll stands at 813, as of now.
