India reported 93,828 new COVID-19 incidences on Wednesday. With as many as 6,138 fatalities recorded on the day, the overall number of deaths reported in the country due to the pandemic has reached 3,59,695. The country has recorded 2,91,82,072 cases so far, of which the active infection load comprised 11,65,487 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.
Tamil Nadu recorded 17,321 new incidences on Wednesday. As many as 405 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 28,170. The total case tally has reached 22,92,025, of which 2,04,258 are active infections.
Kerala recorded 16,204 new incidences on Wednesday. The total number of infections has reached 26,74,166, active infections comprised 1,39,060 cases. As many as 156 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 10,437.
As many as 10,989 cases and 661 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Wednesday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,01,172 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 58,63,880, of which 1,61,864 are active cases.
Karnataka saw 10,959 new COVID-19 incidences and 192 deaths on Wednesday. The state has recorded 27,28,248 cases so far. The active caseload now comprised 2,15,525 cases. The death toll stood at 32,291.
Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Wednesday included Andhra Pradesh (8,766), Odisha (6,019), West Bengal (5,384), Assam (3,751), Telangana (1,813), Punjab (1,393), and Jammu and Kashmir (1,098).
