India: 3.43 lakh new COVID-19 cases confirmed on Thursday

India reported 3,43,005 new COVID-19 incidences and 4,000 fatalities on Thursday. With this, the total confirmed cases in the nation has climbed to 2,40,46,229, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load comprised 37,00,327 cases. While the overall death toll due to COVID-19 has reached 2,62,353.

Maharashtra reported 42,582 new cases on Thursday. The total case tally of the state rose to 52,69,292 while the active infection load comprised 5,33,294 cases. A total of 850 deaths were recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities to 78,857.

Kerala reported 39,955 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. The overall caseload reported till now has reached 20,50,890. The active caseload of the state comprised 4,38,909 cases. Also, 97 new deaths pushed the death toll to 6,151.

Karnataka confirmed 35,297 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 20,88,488. The active cases of the state have surged to 5,93,078. As many as 344 deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities to 20,712.

Tamil Nadu recorded 30,621 new cases on Thursday. The total case tally has reached 14,99,485 while the active infections went up to 1,83,772. As many as 297 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 16,768.

Andhra Pradesh saw 22,399 new cases on Thursday. With this, the total caseload has reached 13,66,785. The active infection load now comprised 2,01,042 cases. As many as 89 recent deaths took the overall fatalities to 9,077.

Other states which also reported a spike in fresh cases on Thursday included West Bengal (20,839 new cases), Uttar Pradesh (17,745), Rajasthan (15,867), Haryana (12,286), Gujarat (10,742), Odisha (10,649), Delhi (10,489), Chhattisgarh (9,121), Madhya Pradesh (8,419), Punjab (8,410), Bihar (7,752), Uttarakhand (7,127), Assam (5,468), Jharkhand (4,991), Himachal Pradesh (4,937), Telangana (4,693), Jammu and Kashmir (4,356), Goa (2,491) and Puducherry (1,942).
