India reported 2,81,837 new COVID-19 incidences and 4,095 fatalities on Sunday. With this, the total confirmed cases in the nation has climbed to 2,49,65,079, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load comprised 35,12,674 cases. While the overall death toll due to COVID-19 has reached 2,74,414.
Maharashtra reported 34,389 new cases on Sunday. The total case tally of the state rose to 53,78,452 while the active infection load comprised 4,68,109 cases. Meanwhile, 974 new deaths were recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities to 81,486.
Tamil Nadu recorded 33,181 new cases on Sunday. The total case tally has reached 15,98,216 while the active infections went up to 2,19,342. As many as 311 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 17,670.
Karnataka confirmed 31,531 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 22,03,462. The active cases of the state have surged to 6,00,147. As many as 403 deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities to 21,837.
Kerala reported 29,704 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. The overall caseload reported till now has reached 21,47,968. The active caseload of the state comprised 4,40,649 cases. Also, 89 new deaths pushed the death toll to 6,429.
Andhra Pradesh saw 24,171 new cases on Sunday. With this, the total caseload has reached 14,35,491. The active infection load now comprised 2,10,436 cases. As many as 101 recent deaths took the overall fatalities to 9,372.
Other states which also reported a spike in fresh cases on Sunday included West Bengal (19,117 new cases), Odisha (11,732), Rajasthan (10,290),Haryana (9,115), Gujarat (8,210), Madhya Pradesh (7,106), Bihar (6,894), Delhi (6,456) Punjab (6,950), Chhattisgarh (4,888), Telangana (3,816), Assam (3,650), Jammu and Kashmir (4,141), Uttarakhand (4,047), Jharkhand (2,321), Himachal Pradesh (2,378), Goa (1,314) and Puducherry (1,961).
