India witnesses highest single-day spike of 15,968 cases on Wednesday; Tally reaches 4,56,183June 24, 2020
India registered the biggest single-day spike of 15,968 COVID-19 positive cases in the past 24 hours. The total positive infections reported in the country now stands at 4,56,183 as on Wednesday, of which, 1,83,022 are currently active cases as per the latest update from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As many as 465 deaths were reported over the last 24 hours, taking the toll of the country to 14,476. Around 2,58,685 patients have been successfully recovered so far.
Maharashtra with 1,39,010 confirmed cases remains to be the most affected by the infection in the country. There are currently 62,848 active cases in the state while 69,631 has been recovered so far. The country saw 6,531 deaths due to the infection as of now.
Meanwhile, Delhi which has overtaken Tamil Nadu in its total COVID infections this week remains to be the second most affected state with a tally of 66,602 cases. As many as 2,301 deaths have been reported in Delhi due to the infection so far. Tamil Nadu has reported 64,603 cases so far with the death toll reaching 833.
