Record spike in new cases at 9,851; India’s COVID-19 tally reaches 2,26,770June 5, 2020
With a record spike of 9,851 new COVID-19 positive cases and 273 related deaths reported in the past 24 hours, the COVID tally of India has risen to 2,26,770 on Friday morning. The death toll in the country rose to 6,348, and the active cases stood around 1,10,960 as on 5th June, according to the Union health ministry.
Of the total 6,348 fatalities, Maharashtra reported the highest number of 2,710 up till now. The state registered 123 new deaths on Thursday.
The recovery rate is also improving the country. India reported the number of total recovered patients at 1,09,461, posting its recovery rate at 48%.
While Maharashtra has the highest number of active cases at 39,935 as of now, the active infection cases in Delhi rose to 14,456 as on Friday with 1,024 new cases. The active cases of Delhi have now surpassed that of Tamil Nadu (12,135) which had stayed at the second position to Maharashtra for the last few weeks.
