India reports 8909 new COVID cases on Tuesday; Total count crosses 2.08 lakh

The COVID tally of India rose to  2,08059  on Wednesday including 8,909 new cases being reported in the past 24 hours. With 227 new deaths on Tuesday, the country’s total deaths due to coronavirus infection has risen to 5,825. At present, the active cases admitted in the hospitals are 10,1766, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.  With the recovery rate of about 48% as claimed by the government, some 100,468  patients have been cured in the country so far. 

With 72,300 confirmed nCoV2 cases, Maharashtra still remained the worst-hit state. The state has reported 2,465 COVID-19 deaths so far. Mumbai alone recorded 1,117 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, pushing its tally to 42,216. The city recorded a high fatality rate taking the death toll to 1,368. As many as 31,333 patients have recovered in the city so far.

Meanwhile, with 24,586 total infection cases, Tamil Nadu remains the second most-affected state in the country. As many as 13,706 patients have recovered and 197 lost lives to the infection in the state till Tuesday. Delhi too registered the highest single-day spike in COVID cases on Tuesday with 1,298 new COVID cases taking the tally to over 22,000.
