New cases at record 8000 on Friday; India’s total infection cases close to 1.74 lakhMay 30, 2020
India’s coronavirus infection scaled a new record with 7964 newly confirmed cases reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total count to 1,73,763 on Friday. This makes an alarming shift in the 6000 plus regime of the single day average, reported in the last one week.
The sudden spike, which is likely due to a marginal increase in number of tests and the relaxation in the lockdown rules, still looks very high in proportion to the 1.4 lakh to 1.5 lakh tests conducted per day, according to healthcare experts. As of now there are at least 86,422 active coronavirus patients in the country.
The country also witnessed record recovery from coronavirus disease on Friday with over 10,000 people got cured on a single day, thanks to the incredible service by the frontline army at several hospitals in the country. Shockingly, the death toll in India too started rising in the last few days, though the official data claims that more than 42% of total coronavirus patients recovered from the disease.
India reported at least 265 new COVID deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of fatalities due to the infection has now risen to 4,971.
