The Madras high court has directed that all post mortems performed in the state should be videographed.

The Madurai bench of Madras HC issued an interim order after a public interest litigation (PIL) raised questions on the credibility of post mortems performed at government hospitals.

The PIL alleged that about 700 post mortem certificates of Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) were not signed and they are yet to be sent to the concerned police stations.

The petition also stated that even though two scientific officers have to be appointed in each of the 24 government medical colleges in the state, the present strength is only three, reports said.
