India’s COVID-19 tally touches 40 lakh; Single-day spike over 83K on 3rd straight daySeptember 5, 2020 0 By FM
With at least 83,341 new COVID-19 cases reported in the last 24 hours, India’s total SARS Cov-2 infection tally touched 40,06,162 on Friday. This includes 8,491,20 active cases and 31,013,37 recoveries. While the death toll has reached 69,655 so far linked to the infection.
Maharashtra reported 19,218 fresh COVID-19 cases on Friday taking the State’s total case tally to 8,63,062. A spike of 378 new deaths pushed the total death toll to 25,964.
Tamil Nadu added 5,976 more infections on Friday. The State’s tally touched 4,51,827, of which 51,633 are active cases. The confirmed cases in Andhra Pradesh has jumped to 4,765,06 of which 1,020,67 are currently active cases.
The total number of tests conducted across the country now stands at 4.66 crores, whereas the cumulative positivity rate is around 8.5%, according to the ICMR.
