India registered 28,701 new COVID positive cases and 500 deaths over the last 24 hours. The total confirmed cases reported in the country rose to 8,78,254 as of Sunday late night. As many as 3,01,609 of the total cases are active now while 5,53,471 patients have recovered so far, said the Union Health Ministry. The COVID-19 death toll in the country stands at 23,174 as of now.
Maharashtra reported 7,827 new cases and 173 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 2,54,427. The state’s active caseload stand at 1,038,13. As many as 1,40,325 has seen recovery while 10,289 succumbed to the infection. With 1,384,70 total cases, Tamil Nadu stood second to Maharashtra. Delhi recorded 1,573 new cases, taking the total tally to 1,12,494 on Sunday.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said on Monday that a total of 1,18,06,256 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the nation till 12th July. Of these, 2,19,103 samples were tested on Sunday.
