New COVID-19 cases decline to 54,286 on Wednesday

India reported 54,286 new COVID-19 incidences on Wednesday. With as many as 1,323 fatalities recorded on the day, the overall number of deaths from the pandemic has escalated to 3,92,014. The country has recorded 3,00,82,169 cases so far, of which the active infection load comprised 6,21,720 cases, according to data from the union health ministry.

Kerala recorded 12,787 new incidences on Wednesday. The total number of infections has reached 28,42,248, active infections comprised 99,389 cases. As many as 150 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 12,446.

As many as 10,066 cases and 508 fatalities were reported in Maharashtra on Wednesday. The total number of deaths from COVID-19 has surged to 1,19,303 in the state. The total cases reported from the state has reached 59,97,587, of which 1,21,859 are active cases.

Tamil Nadu recorded 6,596 new incidences on Wednesday. As many as 166 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 31,746. The total case tally has reached 24,43,415, of which 52,884 are active infections.

Other states which reported more than 1000 cases on Wednesday included Andhra Pradesh (4,684), Karnataka (4,436), Odisha (3,456), Assam (2,728), West Bengal (1,925) and Telangana (1,114).
