India’s daily COVID-19 case count falls to 1.01 lakh on Sunday

India reported 1,01,159 new COVID-19 incidences on Sunday. The country has reported 2,89,09,604 cases so far, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load presently comprised 13,98,064 cases. As many as 2,444 fatalities were recorded during the day pushing the overall death toll due to the pandemic to 3,49,229.

Tamil Nadu recorded 20,421 new incidences on Sunday. As many as 434 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 27,005. The total case tally has reached 22,37,233, of which 2,44,289 are active infections.

Kerala recorded 14,672 new incidences on Sunday. The total case tally has reached 26,33,083 active infections comprised 1,60,996 cases. As many as 227 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 9,947.

The total number of deaths due to the pandemic has risen to reach 1,00,130 in Maharashtra. The state has recently been reporting a decline in daily COVID- cases. As many as 12,557 cases and 618 fatalities were reported on the day. The total cases reported from the state has reached 58,31,781, of which 1,85,527 are active cases.

Karnataka saw 12,209 new COVID-19 incidences and 320 deaths on Sunday. The state has recorded 26,95,523 cases so far. The active caseload now comprised 2,54,505 cases. The death toll stood at 31,580.

Other states which reported more than 1K cases on Sunday included Andhra Pradesh (8,976), Odisha (7,002), West Bengal (7,002), Assam (2,228), Punjab (1,563), Jammu and Kashmir (1,440), Telangana (1,436) and Uttar Pradesh (1,037).
