India confirms 2.08 lakh SARS-CoV-2 infections on Tuesday

India reported 2,08,714 new COVID-19 incidences on Tuesday. The country has reported  2,71,56,382 such cases so far, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load presently comprised 24,90,876 cases. As many as 4,159 fatalities were recorded during the day pushing the overall death toll due to the pandemic to 3,11,421.

The highest number of cases, on Tuesday, was reported from Tamil Nadu at 35,483. The total case tally has reached 19,11,496 while the active infections went up to 3,06,652. As many as 468 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 21,340.

Kerala recorded 29,803 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The overall caseload reported till now has reached 23,95,591. The active caseload of the state comprised 2,55,404 cases. As many as 177 new deaths pushed the toll to 7,732.

Karnataka confirmed 22,758 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 24,72,973. The active cases of the state stood at 4,24,381. As many as 588 new deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities to 26,399.

Maharashtra reported 1,137 new COVID-19 related deaths and 24,136 fresh cases on Tuesday. The total case tally of the state rose to 56,26,155 while the active infection load comprised 3,14,368 cases. The overall fatalities have surged to 90,349.

Other states which also reported a spike in fresh cases on Tuesday included West Bengal (17,005), Andhra Pradesh (15,284), Odisha (10,939), Assam (5,767), Punjab (4,756), Telangana (3,821), Uttar Pradesh (3,723), Chhattisgarh (3,506), Rajasthan (3,404), Bihar (3,306), Gujarat (3,255), Jammu and Kashmir (2,964), Haryana (2,817), Uttarakhand (2,756), Madhya Pradesh (2,422), Himachal Pradesh (1,999), Delhi (1,568),  Jharkhand (1,247), Puducherry (1,237), Goa (1,549).
