India posts 3,82 lakh COVID-19 cases and 3,786 deaths on TuesdayMay 5, 2021 0 By FM
India reported 3,82,847 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. As many as 3,786 deaths were reported on the day taking the overall fatalities to 2,26,172. The total confirmed cases soared to 2,06,58,479 in the country. The active infection load comprised 34,84,915 cases. Maharashtra reported 51,880 new cases. The total case tally of the state rose to 48,22,902 while the active infection load comprised 6,41,910 cases. A total of 891 deaths were recorded on the day taking the overall fatalities to 71,742.
Karnataka confirmed 44,631 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 16,90,934. The active cases of the state have surged to 4,64,363. As many as 288 deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities to 16,538.With 37,190 fresh COVID-19 cases registered on Tuesday, the active infection load of Kerala increased more than 3.5 lakh reaching 3,56,868. The state recorded 57 new deaths on the day. The case tally went up to 17,01,980 while the death toll has reached 5,508.
A total of 25,770 new cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh on the day taking the confirmed cases to 13,68,183. The active cases stood at 2,72,568. As many as 351 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours taking the death toll of the state to 13,798.Tamil Nadu continued to show a gradually increasing trend in COVID-19 cases in the past weeks. The state recorded 21,228 new COVID-19 infections on Tuesday. The total case tally has reached 12,49,292 while the active infections went up to 1,25,230. As many as 144 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 14,612.
Andhra Pradesh saw 20,034 new cases on Tuesday. With this, the total caseload has reached 11,84,028. The active infection load now comprised 1,59,597 cases. As many as 82 recent deaths took the overall fatalities to 8,289.
Other states which also reported a spike in fresh cases on Tuesday included Delhi (19,953 new cases), West Bengal (17,639), Rajasthan (16,974), Haryana (15,786), Chhattisgarh (15,785), Bihar (14,794), Gujarat (13,050), Madhya Pradesh (12,236), Odisha (8,216), Punjab (7,514), Uttarakhand (7,028), Telangana (6,876), Jharkhand (5,974), Jammu and Kashmir (4,650), Assam (4,475), Himachal Pradesh (3,824), Goa (2,814) and Puducherry (1,138)
