India: 12,286 COVID-19 cases confirmed on Monday

India reported 12,286 fresh coronavirus cases on Monday pushing the tally to 1,11,24,527. The total active infections now stand at 1,65,207. The number of recoveries has surged to 10,798,921 after recording 12,015 discharges during the day. The death count due to the viral disease has gone up to 1,57,248 in the country with 91 more fatalities reported in the past 24-hour period, as per the union health ministry data.

Maharashtra reported a spike of 6,397 new COVID-19 incidences on Monday. The state’s total COVID-19 caseload took to 2,161,467 while the active infections have soared past 70,000 mark reaching 77,618.

With 5,754 discharges recorded on the day, the overall recoveries seen in the state has risen to 2,030,458. As many as 30 deaths took the states death toll to 52,184.

Kerala reported 1,938 new incidences, 3,475 discharges and 13 deaths on Monday. The total caseload of the state has risen to 1,061,342 while the active infection load has declined to 47,866. The total recoveries have reached 10,08,972 and the fatalities due to the pandemic has risen to 4,211.

On Day 1 of the phase two of the coronavirus vaccination drive initiated on Monday, India administered 4.27 lakh COVID-19 vaccine doses. India has administered over 1,43,01,266 vaccine doses so far. As many as 25 Lakh beneficiaries registered on the CoWin app to get vaccination on Monday, said the official reports.
