India reported 44,724 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday. The new cases took the overall confirmed cases in the country to 86,35,754, of which 4,94,415 are active infections as of now. As many as 80,11,844 individuals have recovered from the infection so far with 54,639 getting discharged yesterday. The total deaths due to the pandemic reached 1,27,615 with 511 new deaths.
Delhi, on Tuesday, reported a spike of 7,830 new COVID-19 incidences taking the total cases to 4,51,382. Of the total cases, 4,02,854 people have recovered and there are 41,385 active cases. Also, 83 more deaths have been reported, taking the total number of deaths to 7,143.
With new COVID-19 cases in the city showing an upward trend, the Delhi government has requested the central government to provide at least 1,092 additional beds with manpower as there is a “shortage” of 4,900 beds, said the officials.
Kerala reported 6,010 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday. The addition of 28 deaths took the cumulative COVID-19 toll to 1,743. The total caseload rose to 4,95,713 with the active infections at 78,696. The total recoveries have reached 4,15,158 with 6,698 of them getting discharged yesterday.
The state authorities are taking strict measures in view of the annual Mandalam-Makaravilakku season at Sabarimala that begins next week, where people from different states can come together. The number of attendees has been limited to just 1,000 a day. An elaborate plan has been drawn up to offer the pilgrims a range of health service while also curtailing a potential surge in the pandemic, said the state officials.
West Bengal reported 3,891 new COVID-19 cases taking the total cases to 4,13,112.The active cases dropped to 33,444. As the state recorded 53 deaths, the fatality toll reached 7,403. The state saw 4,415 recoveries yesterday taking the total recoveries to 3,72,265
Maharashtra reported 3,791 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday taking the total case tally to 17,26,926. The number of active cases stood at 92,461 With 110 deaths, the state’s death toll has reached 45,435.
A total of 2,146 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tamil Nadu on Tuesday, taking the tally to 7,48,225. The total number of fatalities reached 11,387 with 25 deaths. The total number of recoveries stood at 7,18,129, with 2,237 people having been discharged on Tuesday. The state currently has 18,709 active cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 have reached 51,810,889, with more than 1,279,550 deaths.The US have the highest number of confirmed cases at 10,559,184, which is followed by India and Brazil.
