India’s casecount falls to 54,000 on Tuesday

India reported 54,404 fresh COVID-19 positive cases on Tuesday pushing the cumulative confirmed cases to reach 76,49,158. With 714 patients succumbing to the diseases on the day the country’s pandemic related fatalities have touched 115,950 in all as of now.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the overall active COVID-19 infections in the country stands at 739,381 by far while the data on patient recoveries shows that at least 6,792,550 cases have been either turned negative or discharged from hospitals.  

Maharashtra reported 8,151 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday taking its total case tally to 16,09,516. As many as 7,429 patients have been reportedly discharged during the day. The state’s active cases stood at 1,74,265. The death toll mounted to 42,453 with 213 new fatalities. The cumulative recoveries have risen to 13,92,308, with the recovery rate rising to 86.5%.

“Of a total of 82,51,234 laboratory samples tested thus far, 16,09,516 (19.51%) have returned positive, with around 66,000 samples across the state being tested in the last 24 hours,” state Surveillance Officer Dr Pradeep Awate said, adding that the state’s case fatality rate stands at 2.64%.

Andhra Pradesh reported 3,503 new COVID-19 infections and 28 deaths in past 24 hours taking the infection tally to 7,89,553 and the fatalities to 6,481. As many as 69,095 samples were tested during the day and the daily positivity rate stood at 5.07. As many as 5,144 patients recovered during the day, leaving the active cases at 33,396. While the number of recoveries increased to 7,49,676, the recovery rate too went up to 94.95%.

Karnataka on Tuesday reported 6,297 new cases and 66 deaths. While the positivity rate for the day reduced to 6.41%, the CFR touched 1.04%, according to the state health ministry. Overall reported cases have reached 7,76,901 of which 1,03,945 are active cases and 10,608 have lost lives to the virus infection. As many as 6,62,329 patients have recovered from the infection to date.

On Tuesday, Kerala registered 6,591 positive COVID-19 cases from testing 53,901 samples. The total confirmed cases stood at 3,53,473 of which 6,591 are active cases. As many as 2,60,243 patients have recovered from the infection so far while 1,207 succumbed to the ailments due to the infection.
