India COVID-19 tally crosses 3.4 million; Country sees over 1000 fatalities on 4th straight dayAugust 29, 2020 0 By FM
As India witnessing record rise in new COVID-19 cases in the last one week, the country reported yet another record single-day spike of 77,266 new positive cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total case tally touched 34,600,58 on Friday. Of this, 7,523,61 are currently active cases and about 26,449,73 patients have recovered, as per the data from the Union Health Ministry. With 1,021 new deaths reported on Friday, the country reported more than 1000 COVID-19 fatalities on the fourth straight day.
The government said that there at least 9 lakh samples were tested on Friday. With this, India has carried out more than 1 crore Covid-19 tests in the past two weeks, taking the total number of tests to nearly 4 crores.
Maharashtra remained the most affected state with 7,479,95 cases in all so far, followed by Tamil Nadu (4,092,38) and Andhra Pradesh (4,036,16).
The surge in Covid-19 cases continued in Kerala on Friday, with the daily tally going above the 2,500-mark for the first time touching 2,543. As many as 7 deaths and 2,097 recoveries were reported on the day. The total number of cases reported so far went up to 69,304, of which the active caseload is 23,111.
Globally the COVID cases have reached 24,908,975 seeing 841,331 deaths and 17,298,404 recoveries. The U.S has the highest number of cases at 6,096,235 as of now, followed by Brazil at 3,812,605 and India.
