India reported 1,53,396 new COVID-19 incidences on Sunday. The country has reported 2,80,47,006 such cases so far, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load presently comprised 20,22,055 cases. As many as 3,130 fatalities were recorded during the day pushing the overall death toll due to the pandemic to 3,29,128.
The highest number of cases, on Sunday, was reported from Tamil Nadu at 28,864. The total case tally has reached 20,68,580 while the active infections went up to 3,05,546. As many as 493 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 23,754.
Karnataka confirmed 20,378 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 25,87,827. The active cases of the state stood at 3,42,010. As many as 381 new deaths reported on the day took the total fatalities to 28,679.
Other states which also reported a spike in fresh cases on Sunday included Kerala (19,894), Maharashtra (18,600), Andhra Pradesh (13,400), West Bengal (11,284), Odisha (9,541), Assam (3,245), Punjab (2,584), Rajasthan (2,298), Jammu and Kashmir (2,256), Gujarat (1,871), Uttar Pradesh (1,864), Telangana (1,801), Chhattisgarh (1,655), Madhya Pradesh (1,476), Bihar (1,475), Haryana (1,452) and Uttarakhand (1,226).
