India registers 85K COVID-19 cases on Monday

India reported 85,803 new COVID-19 incidences on Monday. The country has reported 2,89,95,457 cases so far, according to data from the union health ministry. The active infection load presently comprised 12,98,647 cases. As many as 2,106 fatalities were recorded during the day pushing the overall death toll due to the pandemic to 3,51,335.

Tamil Nadu recorded 19,448 new incidences on Monday. As many as 351 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 27,356. The total case tally has reached 22,56,681, of which 2,32,026 are active infections.

Karnataka saw 11,958 new COVID-19 incidences and 340 deaths on Monday. The state has recorded 27,07,481 cases so far. The active caseload now comprised 2,38,824 cases. The death toll stood at 31,920.

The total number of deaths due to the pandemic has risen to reach 1,00,470 in Maharashtra. The state has recently been reporting a decline in daily COVID- cases. As many as 10,219 cases and 340 fatalities were reported on the day. The total cases reported from the state has reached 58,42,000, of which 1,74,320 are active cases.

Kerala recorded 9,312 new incidences on Monday. The total case tally has reached 26,42,395 active infections comprised 1,47,830 cases. As many as 210 deaths were recorded during the day taking the total fatalities to 10,157.

Other states which reported more than 1K cases on Monday included Odisha (6,118), West Bengal (5,887), Andhra Pradesh (4,872), Assam (3,804), Telangana (1,933), Chhattisgarh (1,285) and Punjab (1,269).
