With a spike of over 11,458 cases on Friday, India’s COVID-19 tally surpassed the three-lakh mark already. The total number of infection positive cases touched 3,09,556 as on Saturday morning. The total active cases are at 1,45,779 now while the related deaths in the country stood at 8,884, which includes 386 new fatalities on Friday.
With more than 3 lakh cases, India is currently the fourth worst-hit country by the pandemic globally. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the infection cases are doubling in India every 17.4 days.
Maharashtra remained the most affected state in the country with the tally breaching the one lakh mark on Friday. With 3,493 new cases in the last 24 hours, the state registered a total of 1,01,141 cases. Tamil Nadu, with 40, 698 cases,remained at the second position and Delhi with 36,823 cases at the third.
Globally, 7,632,377 people have been infected with the virus so far and at least 425,385 have died. With over 2 million infections, the US remained the worst-hit country.
