COVID-19 cases spike to 10,911 on Thursday morning

India registered its new daily spike in COVID-19 numbers reaching 10,911 pushing the cumulative number of confirmed cases to 2,87,025 on Thursday morning. The country saw 359 more casualties on Wednesday taking the total reported deaths to 8,105.

However, with nearly 6000 patients getting cured of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours the total numbers of recoveries (14,06,51), for the first time, exceeded the total number of active cases which presently at 1,38,172. The recovery rate now stands at 48.88%, according to the Union Health Ministry.

Maharashtra saw a surge of 3,254 cases which took the total cases to 94,041. The state reported 149 deaths on Wednesday. Mumbai alone reported 1,567 cases. Delhi saw 1,501 new cases of COVID-19 taking the state’s total cases to 32,810, while the death toll due to the disease mounted to 984.
