India reported 8,689 new COVID-19 infections pushing the case tally to 1,08,47,790. The active infections stood at 1,41,118, as of now. With 13,575 new discharges, the total recoveries have escalated to 1,05,46,905. As many as 77 deaths took the total fatalities to 1,55,195.
Kerala saw 3,742 new cases on Monday taking the total case tally to 9,72,181. The active cases stood at 65,413. As many as 5,959 discharges on the day took the total recoveries to 9,02,627. The death toll rose to 3,884 with 16 new deaths. As many as 47.9K tests were conducted on the day, according to official reports.
Maharashtra saw 3,423 recoveries as opposed to 2,216 new cases, on Monday. The state’s active case tally has declined to 34,720, while the total case tally has reached 20,46,287. As many as 15 fatalities pushed the death toll to 51,325. The cumulative recoveries have risen to 19,58,971, while the state’s recovery rate has marginally risen again to 95.73%. The state’s case-fatality stood at 2.51%.
“Of 1,50,10,037 laboratory samples tested thus far, 20,46,287 have returned positive, with over 33,000 samples being tested in the last 24 hours,” said State Surveillance Officer Dr Pradeep Awate.
India has so far provided COVID-19 vaccination to over 60 lakh (60,35,660) health care and frontline workers said the health ministry on Monday. Over two lakh beneficiaries (2,23,298) were vaccinated till Monday.
States like Bihar, Mizoram, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura are among the 11 states where vaccination coverage has been over 65% with Delhi, Chandigarh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Punjab, Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir being among the areas which have so far registered below 40% vaccination coverage.
“Till date total hospitalisations reported after vaccination has been 29 of which 19 have been discharged, while one continues to be under treatment and nine deaths have been reported,” said the health ministry.
The ministry added that in the past 24 hours a new event of hospitalisation has been reported of a patient with facial palsy. The patient is stable and under care in the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
So far a total of 23 deaths have been reported of which nine have been in the hospital and 14 outside.
“A new death has been reported in the past 24 hours of a 29-year-old female in Andhra Pradesh. Report following the post-mortem is awaited,” the ministry said. No case of serious/severe adverse events following immunisation/deaths attributable to vaccination till date has been observed, it added.
