Blood groups, smoking habit not linked to SARS CoV2 infection

Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) has clarified that media reports stating people with AB and B blood groups are more susceptible to CoViD-19 than other blood groups, citing a survey conducted by CSIR, is actually false propaganda. As per the reports, CSIR has found that those with AB blood group are more susceptible to infection by SARS-CoV-2, closely followed by B blood group, while those with O group are with the lowest infections with SARS-CoV-2. However, CSIR denies that no such survey was ever conducted or results published.

The media reports had also falsely indicated that those with O blood group showed mild symptoms of CoViD-19. The reports were also claiming that those consuming meat are more susceptible to CoViD-19 than vegetarians whereas cigarette smokers are shown to be having some resistance towards infection by SARS-CoV-2. CSIR warns that no such conclusions were made by any of the research groups under CSIR. Regarding the negative association of Nicotine to CoViD-19, CSIR says that further studies are needed before reaching any final conclusion.
