At 3.32,518, India’s COVID-19 cases hit a new high on Thursday

India recorded 3,32,518 fresh COVID-19 cases on Thursday. As many as 2,257 deaths were reported during the day taking the overall fatalities due to the pandemic to 1,86,929. The total confirmed cases soared to 1,62,57,507 in the country. The active infection load comprised 24,22,146 cases.

Maharashtra reported as many as 67,013 new cases on Thursday. The total case tally of the state rose to 40,94,840 while the active infection load comprised 6,99,858 cases. A total of 62,298 discharges and 568 new fatalities were recorded on the day. The number of fatalities has now reached 62,479.

A total of 34,254 new cases were reported in Uttar Pradesh on the day taking the confirmed cases to 9,76,765. The active cases stood at 2,59,810. As many as 16,514 discharges and 195 deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours taking the death toll to 10,541.

Delhi saw 26,169 new cases on Thursday. With this, the total caseload has reached 9,56,348. The active infection load now comprised 91,618 cases. As many as 306 recent deaths took the overall fatalities to 13,193.

Karnataka confirmed 25,795 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 12,47,997. The active cases of the state have surged to 1,96,236. The death toll of the state has reached 13,885 after recording 123 new fatalities.

The active infections in Kerala surged to 1,56,224 on Thursday. The state added 26,995 new incidences and 28 deaths on the day. The case tally went up to 13,22,055 while the death toll has reached 5,029.

Chhattisgarh reported 16,750 infections, 17,739 discharges and 207 deaths on Thursday. The total confirmed cases went up to 6,05,568, of which the active infections totalled 1,21,555. The death toll stood at 3,330.

Other states which reported a spike in cases on Thursday included Rajasthan (14,468 new cases), Gujarat (13,105), Tamil Nadu (12,652), Madhya Pradesh (12,384), West Bengal (11,948), Bihar (11,489), Andhra Pradesh (10,759), Haryana (9,742), Jharkhand (7,595), Odisha (6,164), Telangana (5,567), Punjab (5,450), Uttarakhand (3,998), Jammu and Kashmir (1,965), Assam (1,931), Himachal Pradesh (1,774), and Goa (1,410).
