AIMS hospital in Dombivli has begun administering the Russian Sputnik V Covid-19 vaccine. The vaccine is priced at Rs 1,150 per dose.
Kauvery Hospital in Chennai has also announced the administration of Sputnik V vaccine for the treatment of COVID-19. The vaccine, which has been introduced in India after Covishield and Covaxin, is now available to the Indian public. The time interval between two doses of Sputnik V is three weeks.
“After receiving the first consignment of 2,400 doses of Sputnik V vaccines from Dr Reddy’s lab, we have started administering the vaccine to city residents from 10th July,” said Sheetal Chougule, Chief Executive Officer of AIMS hospital.
Dr Milind Shirodkar, Director of AIMS hospital, said, “Around 61 doses were administered to the beneficiaries on Saturday.We will place more orders for Sputnik V, depending on the response from the locals,” he added.
Sputnik vaccine is now in use in nearly 70 countries. India also plans to manufacture and release at least 850 million doses, to help speed up vaccination of its population.
