6,387 new cases again on Wednesday; No sign of flattening the curve

With 6,387 new cases on Wednesday alone, India’s total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,58,333.  There are 86,110 active infection cases at present and 4,531 people have succumbed to the infection so far. Until now 67,691 patients have been recovered in the country.

Among all states, Maharashtra witnessed the highest incidence of COVID cases with 54,758 cases reported till now. Of this, 36,012 are active cases. The South Indian state Tamil Nadu with a total of 17,728 cases follows Maharashtra. The state presently has 8,259 numbers of active cases.

Meanwhile, Kerala being a state which had successfully curbed the COVID spread rate is coming under strain with the return of its natives from other parts of the country and abroad.  There has been a spike in the number of cases in the state and of the present 415 active cases, 231 have been registered in the past four days, according to the Union Health Ministry. Of the 311 new cases, 133 have come from abroad and 178 from other states. A total of 963 cases have been reported from the state until now.
